ADRIANA LOMBARDO
Toronto's Adriana Lombardo was diagnosed with leukemia at 17-years-old. As her friends went off to university, she put her life on hold to undergo two years of treatment, which included a heavy dose of steroids and 72 weeks of chemotherapy. She lost her hair, eyebrows and gained 60 pounds. Today, the 20-year-old is in remission, navigating life after cancer and acting as an ambassador for Look Good Feel Better, so she can help other young women with cancer feel like themselves again.

BETTE JANE JELLY
Bette Jane Jelly was diagnosed with ovarian cancer at 52-years-old. While the Toronto-based interior designer came to terms with losing her hair, she wasn’t prepared to lose her eyebrows and lashes. Look Good Feel Better not only taught her how to recreate the appearance of lost brows, but also the importance of surrounding herself with other women facing similar challenges –she no longer felt alone. While Bette Jane completed
treatment in 2014, she found out her cancer was back in 2016. She recently finished her second round of treatment. |
MANGALA IYER
Mangala Iyer was diagnosed with breast cancer after celebrating her 50th birthday in August 2016. She worried about how the diagnosis would affect her husband and 19-year-old son about to start college. Meeting other women at a Look Good Feel Better workshop in Mississauga gave her the strength she needed to get through chemo. Her small family grew stronger as they rallied around her – her husband taking on the role of home cook and her son always there to cheer her on. Today, Mangala has completed treatment and is looking forward to returning to work as a systems analyst.

RACHEL FIXMAN
Rachel Fixman was diagnosed with stage four Hodgkin’s Lymphoma at 14-years-old. As her friends continued through high school, she had to undergo two years of treatment, including a stem cell transplant. She was in isolation at Sick Kids Hospital, unable to have visitors, for more than a month. As a young teen, it felt “like a prison cell.” Look Good Feel Better gave her the opportunity to interact with other young girls and feel normal again. Rachel, now 26, has been in remission for 10 years and is currently enrolled in teacher’s college at University of Toronto.

DONNA PEPIN
Donna Pepin was diagnosed with ovarian cancer at the age of 49. She underwent surgery, chemotherapy and went into remission. In the summer of 2016 – 10 years later –she found out the cancer was back. As a veteran of the fashion industry, one of the most difficult parts of treatment is the effect on her appearance. She was grateful for her Look Good Feel Better experience, not only for the tools and techniques to look and feel more like herself, but also for the opportunity to interact with other women. Donna is currently on medication to control the growth of her disease.
